The 2020 pandemic and social distancing restrictions have ignited a boom in RV sales and RV travel. People of all ages and demographics have become inspired to go RVing and camping, many for the first time. Statistics show that people’s interest in camping and RVing is higher now than in any other time in recent history. Many have found that the RV lifestyle is not only fun and convenient but is also one of the safest ways to travel and vacation. You can cook your own meals, bring your pets, sleep in your own bed, use your own restroom, spend time in the fresh outdoors, and safely explore Florida at the same time.
“Ever since Gov. Ron DeSantis reopened Florida to leisure travel on May 4, the majority of privately-owned campgrounds, RV parks and resorts are seeing increasing numbers of families as well as groups of friends enjoying the great outdoors,” said Bobby Cornwell, executive director and CEO of the Florida Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.
Even while following social distancing guidelines, RVers and campers are still able to safely socially interact and travel while enjoying each other’s company in a campground rather than having to try to interact online. People are sick of being at home, and as of now, few people are rushing to get on an airplane or stay in a hotel. In addition, with more and more people working from home, many realize they can now take their work on the road, and the RV serves as the perfect mobile office.
RVing and camping are inherently designed for social distancing. While outside the RV, you can enjoy the outdoors and the fresh air, go fishing, horseback riding, golfing, or simply enjoy a leisure walk or bike ride while socializing at open-air gatherings. While you are inside, you can relax in the safety and comfort of your own little home.
If you’re thinking about ways to have fun or travel in Florida during these uncertain times, perhaps an RV get-away is a smart decision for you. Many American families have had their vacation plans crushed, and we are seeing these families and others renting or buying RVs to replace their original vacations. RVing and camping offer a fun and smart vacation alternative for 2020 and beyond, and there is no better place to explore than Florida.
