First Step To An Organized Closet? Start From The Outside

Every closet could use more space and better organization. In many cases, built-in shelves and drawers offer an ideal space-saving solution for a crowded closet because they allow for more room and for greater visibility. When the contents of a closet are more visible with well placed shelves and clear drawers or bins, it’s easier to access what is needed (and what is never worn!). Many homeowners have also discovered that changing the closet doors may be a good way to enhance the use of closet space. Sliding doors will not only offer increased space (no need to worry about a swinging door banging into nearby furniture) but also the door design can have a big impact on the rest of the room.

“Our customers really like the options that sliding door hardware provides,” said Johnson Hardware Marketing Director Michael Myers. “When organizing a closet for more space, many homeowners find that the easy access to everything in the closet, plus the customizable options of sliding doors makes for better closet design.”

Sliding bypass door hardware is an ideal solution for most closet doors. The hardware can support doors up to 150 lbs., which allow for many styles of wood and glass doors.

Strong 3-wheel hangers are completely adjustable and feature machine turned ball-bearing wheels for smooth gliding operation. The compact aluminum track is precision extruded for a smoother slide and the box design prevents wheels from jumping off the track.

One of the most effective organizational features of the 3 door system is that the one door can remain open for easy access and the rest of the closet looks neat behind the closed doors. Many homeowners have opted to use glass panel doors to allow for visual access to the entire closet – so even when the doors are shut, the contents of the whole closet is visible.

Whether it’s glass, opaque-panel, or solid wood doors, a sliding bypass door enables closet design to reflect the overall design of the rest of the room. And space saving isn’t limited to the interior of the closet. A 3-door bypass sliding hardware installation like the one shown in the photo can save up to 42 sq. ft. of floor space, when compared to swinging doors.
