Hardware that is too big and sticks out too far from the lower cabinets can cause an issue since clothing could get caught easily and knees could be bruised. At the same time, you should ensure the gap between the cabinet and hardware is not too small and large enough for your hand to comfortably grip the knob or pull.
The position of the new hardware is also very important to consider since it affects how difficult the replacement project is to complete. For example, will changing from bars to knobs or vice versa involve changing the number of or placement of the existing holes in the cabinets and drawers? Adding a new hole and filling in holes from previous hardware can be done fairly easily. However, you need to be aware of the extra work and time it adds to the project.
